A Fashion Visionary Blending Culture and Sustainability
Marlene Giacomazzo, a French-Sicilian fashion designer, has built an impressive career by blending creativity, culture, and sustainability. Born in the South of France to a French mother and a Sicilian immigrant father, her early years were filled with movement across France and Germany due to her father’s military career. This diverse upbringing fostered her love for creative expression, from painting and dance to music and design.
After studying fashion design in Paris, Marlene spent over a decade working in the heart of the fashion industry. Her collaborations with renowned brands like Paul & Joe, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, and Converse led to her work being featured in top publications like Dazed & Confused and WAD Magazine. She gained experience as a stylist for TV shows, fashion shows, and commercials, solidifying her reputation as a versatile and innovative designer.
Marlene’s career then took her to London, New York, and ultimately Los Angeles, where she began designing for Bobo House by Eloise Lapidus. In LA, she tapped into the city’s unique manufacturing resources and started offering pattern-making services for rising brands like Prayingg and Cherry LA. Today, she is the Chief Product Officer for Oya Femtech Apparel, a brand focused on innovative athletic designs that support feminine health.
Driven by her passion for sustainability, Marlene launched Cliché S#!t Box, an upcycling brand that transforms discarded items into new creations. Her approach to fashion goes beyond aesthetics—she sees it as a reflection of society, culture, and the human experience. By upcycling, she not only minimizes waste but also adds layers of meaning to her designs, letting the materials guide her creative process.
