Art and Education Journey
Mrs. Lisha K. Lett, born and raised in Los Angeles, California, has dedicated her life to service, education, and the arts. At just 17, following the tragic loss of her mother, she stepped up to become the primary caregiver for her six younger siblings. This early responsibility shaped her into the compassionate and resilient woman she is today. After moving to Lancaster, California, she met and married Gary Lett, with whom she has shared over 44 years of marriage, raising two sons and later moving to San Antonio, Texas.
A passionate early childhood educator, known affectionately as “Ms. Lisha” by students and parents alike, Mrs. Lisha spent years shaping young minds before becoming a mentor teacher at the University of Texas. After retiring from teaching, she and her husband co-founded Lett’s Do Art Inc., a multi-disciplinary art company, combining their love for education and creativity. Her contributions to education didn’t end there—she has become a sought-after motivational speaker, particularly within church settings, workshops, and seminars, where she continues to inspire others with her story and insights.
Community service has always been at the core of Mrs. Lisha’s life. As a stay-at-home mom, she actively participated in her children’s schools and local organizations, serving as PTA President at Kingsley Elementary, Conflict Resolution parent at Emerson Middle School, and Band Mother for Chino’s Sound Machine. Her activism extended beyond education, as she became a charter member of the NAACP for 10 years, volunteered at the 2023 Kindness Carnival, and was selected as “Principal for a Day” in 2024.
In 2020, Mrs. Lisha officially joined the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) after years of volunteering, and now proudly serves on its Hospitality Committee. She also actively supports causes like the House of Ruth, a non-profit aiding survivors of domestic violence.
In addition to her community work, Mrs. Lisha holds an Associate of Arts degree in Business Administration and is a certified Early Childhood Educator. A grandmother of eight, she continues to enrich her community through activism, art, and speaking engagements, proving that her passion for service knows no bounds.
