Growing up in White Plains, NY, North K. Ruga’s introduction to hip hop came early. At just 9 or 10 years old, his uncle’s cassette tapes of Snoop Dogg and the Dogg Pound became the soundtrack of his youth. “That’s all my homeboys and I heard when we went outside,” he says, reflecting on the influence West Coast legends had on his budding musical taste.
